Delicious Honey Barbecue Wings, who doesn’t love them? This wonderful combination of sweet, spicy and savory flavors explode in your mouth with just one bite. Honey Barbecue wings are just an all-time favorite, classic dish to make. They are especially a great quick dish to whip up during the summertime for special celebrations such as the fourth of July which is coming up this weekend. I can assure you that many of your family and guests will enjoy it.
I remember when the first Kentucky Fried Chicken came to the island of Dominica where I grew up. I tried their honey barbecue wings and I was intrigued by the flavor. Because I loved them so much, I developed of habit of buying their Honey Barbecue Wings whenever I would come from afternoon classes. Sometimes I only had enough change to buy two pieces but it was so worth it. It was a little pick me up after a long class. I believe to this day it is because of this experience that I love honey barbecue wings so much.
In this recipe, I used Arrowroot powder instead of cornstarch in order to thicken my sauce. Arrowroot is great natural ingredient. It is grown and produced in many tropical countries and has the consistency of cornstarch. It basically accomplishes the same effect as cornstarch. As a child my parents often made arrowroot porridge. It was very popular in those days. If you would like to find out more about Arrowroot click here. Also, here is a great article I found comparing arrowroot and cornstarch and which one may be best to use, check it out here. You can buy it at your international farmers market. I bought mines from the Dekalb International Farmers Market in Atlanta, GA (I love that place). This wonderful recipe is inspired by my Caribbean Kentucky Fried Chicken Honey Barbecue Wings experience. Here we go!
