1lb Sorrel (or three 4.8 oz bags of dried sorrel found at international market)
8 Cups of water
7 Cloves
2 Cinnamon sticks
A piece of orange peel
A small piece of ginger (sliced)
Sweeten with white sugar (to taste)
Serving size: 8 cups
Directions :
1. To a large pot add water, sorrel, cinnamon sticks, cloves and ginger, and bring to a boil for about 25 to 35 minutes.
2. After mixture has come to a boil remove from heat and allow to sit until it reaches room temperature.
3. After mixture has come to room temperature, strain the sorrel, cinnamon, ginger slices and orange peel.
4. In a large pitcher add strained sorrel mixture and sugar to taste. You can add the cinnamon sticks and orange peel for serving to lock in more flavor.
This drink should be stored in the refrigerator. Serve with lots of ice for a refreshing taste. Ahhhhh! Enjoy MN
