Refreshing Lime Juice (Limeade)

This is how we made lime juice (Limeade) on the islands. Its so simple and refreshing.  The key is to add a few dashes Angostura Bitters which is made on the island of Trinidad and Tobago and is usually added to a variety of drinks and cocktails.  It is made of a wonderful blend of herbs and spices that can complement the main ingredients in any drink. Pack a glass with ice and drink this refreshing beverage on a hot summer evening.  Perfection!!!

Ingredients

5 limes (Juiced)
5 cups of water
1 1/2 cups of sugar (or sweeten to taste)
5 Dashes of Angostura Bitters

Directions:

1. Add 7 cups of water to a large pitcher.

2. Add in juice from 5 limes, sugar and bitters.

3. Stir thoroughly and allow to chill in refrigerator until time to serve.

4. Serve with lots of ice and slice extra limes  for garnish.

*Hints: To soften limes for squeezing roll against counter top or place in microwave for about 15 seconds.

Enjoy! MN
